The media has never liked Trump. And they can’t let it go.

Now these mainstream media hacks exposed their huge anti-Trump campaign.

Journalists Push for Confrontation at Correspondents’ Dinner

More than 200 journalists, including veteran news figures, have signed an open letter calling on the White House Correspondents’ Association to turn this weekend’s annual dinner into a platform for sharply criticizing President Donald Trump. The letter, released Monday, urges organizers to use the event—traditionally a mix of celebration and light-hearted roasts—to “forcefully demonstrate opposition” to the president’s approach to the media.

President Trump, who previously boycotted the dinner during his first term and last year, has accepted the invitation this time after the association asked him “very nicely.” In typical Trump fashion, he noted on Truth Social that he is “truly one of the Greatest Presidents in the History of our Country, the G.O.A.T.”

The Open Letter’s Demands

The signatories, which include former CBS News anchor Dan Rather, former ABC News correspondent Sam Donaldson, and former NBC News anchor Ann Curry, framed the dinner as incompatible with Trump’s presence unless strong criticism is delivered from the podium.

“We, the undersigned, call upon the White House Correspondents’ Association to use the occasion of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, to forcefully demonstrate opposition to President Trump’s efforts to trample freedom of the press.”

“The dinner has long served as a symbol of the vital and irreplaceable role of a free press in American democracy and a celebration of the First Amendment and the journalists who uphold it. President Trump’s systematic, sustained, and unprecedented attacks on the free press… render his presence at such an event a profound contradiction of its purpose.”

“The collective weight of the administration’s actions — retaliatory access bans, coercive regulatory investigations, frivolous lawsuits against the press, defunding of public broadcasting, dismantling of international broadcasting, physical restrictions on journalists, personal verbal attacks on reporters, assaults on the media in official White House press releases and social media posts, the arrest of journalists, and the pardoning of those who committed violence against the press — represent the most systematic and comprehensive assault on freedom of the press by a sitting American president.”

They added:

“Speak forcefully, in front of the man who seeks to undermine our country’s long tradition of an independent, strong, and free press.”

“We also urge the WHCA to reaffirm, without equivocation, that freedom of the press is not a partisan issue and that the Association will not normalize this behavior but instead fight back against any officeholder who has waged systematic war against the journalists whose work the dinner celebrates.”

Trump’s Attendance and Media Tensions

The push comes as Trump prepares to attend the dinner for the first time as president on Saturday. Supporters of the president view the letter as another example of legacy media’s ongoing hostility toward an administration that has prioritized transparency with the American public over cozy relationships with the press establishment.

While the signatories list various grievances, many Americans see Trump’s tough stance as a necessary pushback against years of biased coverage and attempts by certain outlets to shape narratives rather than report facts. The White House has not yet issued a detailed response beyond Trump’s own characteristically confident statement about his historic presidency.
