The Democrat Party is a mess. There’s no other way to put it.
And a leading Democrat made a shocking confession about the Democrats.
In a stunning moment of candor on CNN, Rep. Dan Goldman dropped a truth bomb that exposes the rot deep within the Democratic machine.
The New York congressman, fresh off a bruising primary defeat, pointed straight at the Israel debate as the force tearing his party apart from the inside.
Goldman didn’t mince words about why voters tossed him out. The Israel issue didn’t just matter—it dominated everything else in the race.
Host Jake Tapper pressed Goldman on the differences with his opponent, former Comptroller Brad Lander. Both men support Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish democracy.
The real split runs deeper: Goldman refuses to slap the “genocide” label on Gaza operations, maintains ties with the pro-Israel group AIPAC, and rejects describing the West Bank situation as an “occupation.”
Tapper asked whether the party still has space for figures like Goldman. It’s a fair question that cuts to the heart of the current Democratic identity crisis.
Goldman made his position clear: “You go down the sort of list of progressive policies, and I’m on board there. What has I think happened and I think this is really dangerous, is that some of these, as you say, beneath the surface, very complicated, difficult issues have become buzzwords and litmus tests.”
He singled out one word in particular as the ultimate loyalty oath: “Genocide, in particular, as you point out, has been adopted by many as a morality test.”
“And the real concern I have is that that has translated into a tremendous danger and fear against Jews in America. Because American Jews are now being held responsible by too many people for what the Israeli government is doing, and that is antisemitism, and it’s becoming normalized,” Goldman added.
He continued: “It’s becoming more and more frequent. And both as a Jew myself and having many, many Jewish constituents of all types, a lot are really, really afraid because American Jews are now being dehumanized because of frustration and anger with what’s going on in the Middle East that is anti-democratic, that is anti-American, and that fundamentally flies in the face of everything the Democratic Party has always stood for.”
This admission from a sitting Democratic congressman should send chills down the spine of anyone who cares about basic civil rights.
The party that once positioned itself as a defender of minorities has allowed radical elements to mainstream hatred against Jews.
Right populist voices have warned about this capture for years. The Democratic coalition now bends to activists who cheer campus encampments, excuse violence against Jewish students, and treat support for Israel as disqualifying.
Goldman’s primary loss proves the machine is purging moderates who won’t bend the knee.
