The current press secretary is nothing more than a mouthpiece for the Biden administration. And she hasn’t exactly done a bang-up job of that.
Now Karine Jean-Pierre ran screaming from reporters in fear of this one question.
The White House postponed a planned press briefing after a federal grand jury found President Joe Biden’s son guilty of three felony firearms charges.
Jurors convicted Hunter Biden, 54, of all charges, including lying to a federally licensed guns dealer, making a false declaration on a federal firearms background check form, and possessing an unlawfully obtained firearm. Hunter Biden faces up to 25 years in jail and a $750,000 fine.
The White House postponed Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre’s scheduled briefing, as she frequently struggles to answer questions, and stated that Biden will spend the evening with his son in Delaware.
Sounds like somebody is scared to face the music.
“We are naturally disappointed by today’s verdict,” said Abbe Lowell, Hunter Biden’s attorney.
“We respect the jury process, and as we have done throughout this case, we will continue to vigorously pursue all the legal challenges available to Hunter. Through all he has been through in his recovery, including this trial, Hunter has felt grateful for and blessed by the love and support of his family.”
Hunter Biden responded to the charges in a separate statement: “I am more grateful today for the love and support I experienced this last week from Melissa, my family, my friends, and my community than I am disappointed by the outcome. Recovery is possible by the grace of God, and I am blessed to experience that gift one day at a time.”
President Biden promised last week that he would accept the verdict and not pardon his son.
After the verdict was announced, CNN reported that he may commute his son’s prison sentence.
Special Counsel David Weiss stated that the case’s main themes were Hunter Biden’s “illegal choices and the rule of law.”
“First, while there has been much testimony about the defendant’s abuse of drugs and alcohol, ultimately, this case was not just about addiction — a disease that haunts families across the United States, including Hunter Biden’s family,” he continued.
“This case was about the illegal choices [the] defendant made while in the throes of addiction, his choice to lie on a government form when he bought a gun, and the choice to then possess that gun. It was these choices and the combination of guns and drugs that made his conduct dangerous.”
“Second, no one in this country is above the law,” he stated.
“Everyone must be accountable for their actions, even this defendant. However, Hunter Biden should be no more accountable than any other citizen convicted of this same conduct. The prosecution has been and will continue to be committed to this principle and to the principles of federal prosecution in carrying out its responsibilities.”
The problem Americans are facing is whether this one minor trial will be used to exonerate Hunter of any other possible crimes.
Keep in mind, there are still questions surrounding whether he was funneling foreign bribe money to Joe.
But those allegations have yet to be pursued with any sort of urgency.
Instead, they’ve made a spectacle of a charge where he could receive a sentence of up to 25 years, but he will likely not even come close to that.
