Trump and Harris are vowed enemies. That’s what makes this move so strange.
As Donald Trump was surprised by this gift he was given by Kamala Harris.
The choice from Kamala Harris to skip over Josh Shapiro from Pennsylvania as her Vice President running mate has consequences that she may not have previously given thought to. Consequences that could hand over the election to Donald Trump this cycle.
Trump Gaining Ground With Jewish Voters In Blue And Purple States
In the latest twist of the 2024 presidential race, former President Donald Trump is gaining traction among Jewish voters in New York, surpassing Democratic nominee and Vice President Kamala Harris, according to a recent poll by Siena College.
The poll, released on Tuesday, reveals that 50% of Jewish voters in New York currently favor Trump, compared to 49% who support Harris. The numbers also reflect a perception among Jewish voters regarding the candidates’ preparedness for the presidency, with 47% considering Trump to be “very prepared,” while only 36% say the same about Harris.
This shift toward the GOP among Jewish voters is part of a broader trend that has been developing over time. Sam Markstein, the national political director at the Republican Jewish Coalition, noted this in February when discussing a previous Siena poll. That earlier poll indicated that 53% of Jewish voters in New York favored Trump, while 44% preferred Biden. The February poll surveyed over 800 individuals, with Jewish voters comprising 8% of the sample.
Trump’s support within the Jewish community has seen a steady increase over the years. In the 2020 election, 30% of Jewish voters backed Trump, up from 24% in 2016.
This trend is not confined to New York. A July index by the Jewish People’s Policy Institute (JPPI) showed that 51% of Jewish Israelis favored Trump, compared to only 35% who preferred Biden before he withdrew from the presidential race.
The recent Siena poll, conducted from July 28 to August 1, surveyed 1,199 likely voters in New York, with a margin of error of +/- 4.0 percentage points.
Pennsylvania Jewish Population Critical For the 2024 Election
There are around 300,000 Jewish voters in the state of Pennsylvania, and their participation rates are extremely high compared to the average American voting group. In 2020, Joe Biden carried Pennsylvania by a mere 80,000 votes over Donald Trump.
New reports suggest that Donald Trump Donald Trump is actually leading Kamala Harris amongst Jewish voters for the first time for a Republican presidential candidate since Ronald Reagan in the 1980s. Some of this can be attributed to the overwhelmingly bad marks Joe Biden and the Democrats have received for their handling of the Israel-Gaza conflict since October of 2023.

This advantage for Donald Trump with Jewish voters could very well grow, and this comes back to the pick of Walz over Shapiro for Harris as her running mate. Jewish voters in Pennsylvania could be left wondering why their Governor was glossed over.
Could it be that the Democrats specifically don’t go for Shapiro because he’s Jewish and they want to appease the anti-Israel voting groups in Michigan, a state the Democrats would still like to win in 2024? That’s certainly possible.
Just a shift of 10% or 15% of the Jewish voting bloc Pennsylvania could turn the tides of the election in that state. If you turn the tides of the election in that state, you have a strong case for winning nationally.
It’s entirely possible you see the Jewish support for Donald Trump swell even further after the Josh Shapiro snub from Kamala Harris and the Democrats. Why support the Party that clearly only cares about you as a means to win elections?
That’s the gift Kamala Harris has given Donald Trump. An even better in with Jewish voters who are so critical in a number of key eastern states and districts.
