The presidential election is less than two weeks away. Anything can happen at this point.
And an election expert has made a 2024 prediction that left Donald Trump completely speechless.
According to veteran political journalist Mark Halperin, early voting numbers suggest that former President Donald Trump may be on course to win the 2024 presidential election.
Halperin, editor-in-chief of the 2WAY video platform, indicated that the early data from key states could be a predictor of the outcome.
“If the early vote numbers stay the way they are, and that’s a big if, we’ll almost certainly know before Election Day who’s going to win,” Halperin said on Tuesday.
He emphasized the significance of these early figures, particularly in swing states, and noted that Trump, 78, seems to be performing well enough to defeat Vice President Kamala Harris, 60, in the November 5th election.
Halperin pointed out that in several battleground states, Trump’s numbers are strong enough to suggest he could clinch victory if the current trends continue.
“[M]ake no mistake,” he said, “if these numbers hold up in the states where we can understand even partially what the data is like, we’ll know that Donald Trump’s going to be president on Election Day.”
However, Halperin stressed that early voting numbers must be closely monitored daily, as they provide real-time insight into voter behavior.
He emphasized the importance of these figures, even more so than traditional polling data.
“It’s more important than almost anything,” Halperin stated, adding that the data offers a clearer view of factors contributing to a potential Republican over-performance in crucial battlegrounds.
One of the key areas Halperin highlighted was Nevada, particularly Clark County, which includes Las Vegas. Typically a Democratic stronghold, early voting data there shows the Democrats leading by only 4,500 votes.
In contrast, rural areas in Nevada are outperforming expectations, further contributing to the Republican advantage.
Halperin also referenced reporting from the Nevada Independent that showed Republicans leading statewide by 8,000 votes.
He advised caution, however, urging people not to “overread” the early voting results, as things could still shift. “It can change. We don’t know exactly who’s casting these ballots, how they’re voting, etc.”
Despite the uncertainties, Halperin said, “every analyst I’ve talked to in the last 24 hours, including people who speak publicly, say if this continues, Donald Trump can’t lose because the Democrats can’t possibly do well enough on Election Day.”
As of now, the RealClearPolitics average of polls shows Trump leading Harris in all seven key battleground states: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
Whether these early voting trends hold will be crucial in determining the final outcome.
But it’s obvious that Trump and his campaign have some positive momentum at this point in the election cycle.
