And Lara Trump has put Ron DeSantis on notice with just two words on Fox News.

Lara Trump Expresses Interest in U.S. Senate Seat Amid Rubio’s Resignation

Lara Trump, co-chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC), has expressed a strong interest in potentially filling a U.S. Senate vacancy in Florida. Speaking with FOX Business’ Maria Bartiromo, she revealed that she would “seriously consider” serving in the Senate if Florida Governor Ron DeSantis asks her to take over the seat vacated by Senator Marco Rubio. Rubio, a Republican from Florida, is expected to resign from the Senate to assume a new role as U.S. Secretary of State under President-elect Donald Trump.

In a separate interview with FOX News’ Sean Hannity, Lara Trump further confirmed her willingness, stating she “would love to serve the people of Florida” and would “love to consider” the opportunity to fill the seat if asked.

Should Rubio’s nomination to Secretary of State be confirmed, his resignation would trigger a process in which Governor DeSantis would select a temporary replacement until a special election is held. Rubio, who has served in the Senate since 2011, is poised to transition to his new role in the upcoming administration, which has generated significant political discussions across the state and the country.

Several Republican leaders have already weighed in on Lara Trump’s potential candidacy. Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, appearing on Hannity, said he would be “over-the-top excited” at the prospect of her appointment and emphasized that “Republicans could not do better” than Lara Trump in the Senate.

Meanwhile, Senator Rick Scott of Florida, who previously served as the state’s governor, has also expressed strong support for Lara Trump. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Scott called her “a GREAT Senator” and praised her ability to “represent Floridians well.”

The political landscape in Washington has shifted following the 2024 elections, with Republicans securing majorities in both the Senate and House of Representatives. The resignation of Rubio would open a critical opportunity for Governor DeSantis to shape Florida’s representation in Washington as part of the new Republican leadership.

Rubio, who has represented Florida in the Senate for over a decade, spoke publicly about his upcoming role in the Trump administration. “As Secretary of State, I will work every day to carry out his foreign policy agenda,” Rubio said in a post on X, referring to President Trump.

He also expressed his commitment to working toward “peace through strength” and ensuring that the interests of Americans are prioritized. Rubio added that he looked forward to securing the support of his colleagues in the Senate to help set up President Trump’s national security and foreign policy team ahead of his inauguration on January 20.

In any case, Donald Trump will be enjoying a friendly U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives, with the GOP taking back control of the congressional upper chamber once more. In the Senate, the Republicans will have a 53-seat majority. These seats will be crucial to Donald Trump being able to see his administration appointments confirmed.

The Conservative Column will update you on any major news coming from Ron DeSantis about the Marco Rubio seat vacancy.
