And a leading Democrat eviscerated Jill Biden on live TV.
Democrats are finally saying out loud what millions of Americans already knew long ago: Joe Biden was never fit to run for another term.
In a stunning appearance on CNN’s The Arena, Rep. Adam Smith (D-WA) ripped into Jill Biden and the inner circle that spent years pretending the country wasn’t seeing Biden’s obvious mental and physical decline with their own eyes.
Smith didn’t mince words. While discussing Jill Biden’s recent comments defending her husband after his disastrous debate performance, the Washington Democrat admitted what many in his party tried desperately to hide during the 2024 campaign.
According to Smith, the American people were misled, Democratic lawmakers were pressured into defending the indefensible, and the country paid the price.
CNN co-host Kasie Hunt asked Smith whether it was helpful for Jill Biden to continue making public statements about the former president. Smith’s answer was brutal.
“I don’t think it’s terribly productive. And it’s sad, and it’s dishonest,” Smith stated.
That single sentence cuts through years of media spin and carefully scripted talking points. For years, corporate media outlets and Democrat operatives attacked anyone who questioned Biden’s fitness for office.
Videos of confusion, wandering speeches, frozen moments, and verbal stumbles were dismissed as “cheap fakes” or Republican propaganda. Americans were told not to believe their own eyes.
Then came the debate disaster that changed everything.
Smith openly acknowledged how problematic Jill Biden’s recent comments were:
“I mean, just think of the two sentences she said. I saw him on the debate stage. I thought he was having a stroke. And then in the next breath, she says, no, I didn’t see any evidence of cognitive decline. Come on. I mean, and this is something that was a huge problem for my party.”
To ordinary Americans, that explanation by the former first lady simply doesn’t pass the smell test. Voters watched Biden deteriorate in real time over several years.
The signs weren’t subtle, and they certainly didn’t appear overnight. Even Smith admitted the issue had been obvious for a long time.
“I mean, it was very clear. You know, probably a couple of years out, the Joe Biden was not going to be a credible candidate for president because of his age and declining health,” Smith stated.
That statement alone demolishes the carefully crafted narrative Democrats spent years selling to the public.
If lawmakers inside Biden’s own party knew he wasn’t capable of running again, why did they continue pretending otherwise? Why did the media continue attacking critics who raised valid concerns?
