Politics can always offer up crazy storylines. But this is insane.
And a U.S. senator revealed that there’s a hostage in the Trump White House.
In a stunning display of partisan desperation, Sen. Cory Booker took to CNN this week to smear Secretary of State Marco Rubio with one of the most unhinged insults yet from the opposition.
While discussing the ongoing conflict with Iran, Booker suggested Rubio had lost his mind and principles simply for standing firm alongside President Trump.
The New Jersey Democrat appeared on The Source and wasted no time launching personal attacks instead of offering real solutions.
When pressed about Iran’s position after intense military operations, Booker refused to acknowledge American gains and instead painted a picture of endless struggle that conveniently ignored decades of failed policies from his own party.
Booker claimed Iran’s capabilities remained formidable despite clear setbacks to their forces. He dismissed any notion of victory, insisting America found itself stuck in a difficult spot against a rogue regime.
This defeatist tone fits a familiar pattern from Democrats who seem uncomfortable with projecting strength on the world stage.
According to Booker, the situation represented a deadlock where even the world’s leading superpower couldn’t decisively prevail.
He highlighted remaining Iranian assets and ongoing threats to allies, framing the conflict as far from resolved. Such rhetoric plays right into the hands of adversaries who thrive on perceived American hesitation.
The senator continued his critique by focusing on the human and financial toll. He pointed to risks facing U.S. troops and the heavy daily expenses of maintaining operations. These concerns, while valid on the surface, conveniently overlook how previous administrations allowed Iran to grow bolder through weak deals and sanctions relief.
Booker saved his sharpest barbs for Rubio, questioning the secretary’s independence. He implied Rubio had fallen under undue influence, abandoning his former positions to align with the current administration.
This personal jab revealed more about Democratic frustration with effective conservative leadership than any actual policy failure.
“It’s like he has Stockholm syndrome, that he’s doing whatever his hostage keeper or the president United States is telling him to do and telling him to say it is a complete lie,” Booker stated.
The full weight of Booker’s accusation landed with that inflammatory line. Rather than debate the merits of current strategy, he resorted to suggesting Rubio was somehow captive to Trump.
This kind of rhetoric demeans the office and shows how far some Democrats will go to undermine America’s diplomatic efforts.
