And now, a violent criminal who was released twice by Biden, has threatened the U.S. Capitol and sent D.C. into a frenzy.
The Biden administration’s approach to border security has resulted in the release of millions of illegal aliens into the United States, creating a dangerous environment that threatens American communities.
One shocking example is the case of Jose Leonardo Marquez-Marquez, a 23-year-old Venezuelan illegal alien, who was twice released by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) under President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris’s watch.
Marquez-Marquez was eventually caught outside the U.S. Capitol armed with a machete, a brick, and other dangerous items. His case encapsulates the glaring failure of the Biden-Harris immigration policies that prioritize political optics over public safety.
An interim staff report from the House Judiciary Committee, led by Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Rep. Tom McClintock (R-CA), details the harrowing circumstances surrounding Marquez-Marquez’s repeated release into the U.S. interior.
His journey through the broken immigration system should send alarm bells ringing for every American concerned with safety and the integrity of our nation’s borders.
Marquez-Marquez first crossed into the United States near Eagle Pass, Texas, in August 2022. Border Patrol agents quickly apprehended him, but in a shocking display of irresponsibility, DHS released him into the U.S. the very next day.
The official excuse? A supposed lack of detention capacity at the Eagle Pass North Station. However, the report by Jordan and McClintock exposes this as a blatant lie: DHS had available beds to detain Marquez-Marquez but inexplicably chose not to.
This decision set the stage for future disaster. Two months later, after checking in with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Marquez-Marquez was declared a “priority” for deportation. Yet once again, he was set free on his own recognizance, allowing him to roam freely across the country.
The culmination of this leniency came on December 26, 2022, when Marquez-Marquez was arrested by U.S. Capitol Police outside the U.S. Capitol. What did they find? He was armed with a machete, a brick, a knife, a fake visa, and a fraudulent Social Security Number.
Despite the clear danger he posed, his case epitomizes the reckless and destructive consequences of Biden’s border policies.
The case of Marquez-Marquez is just one of countless examples illustrating the Biden-Harris administration’s radical approach to immigration. Under their leadership, well over 7 million illegal aliens have poured into the country, overwhelming cities and decimating public services.
The administration has turned a blind eye to the fact that a certain percentage of these illegal aliens are criminals who bring harm to innocent Americans. The immigration policies in place under Biden and Harris are not simply incompetent; they are dangerous.
For more than three-and-a-half years, President Biden and his “border czar,” Vice President Kamala Harris, have deliberately undermined American sovereignty by allowing the largest mass release of illegal aliens in U.S. history.
The result? Cities overwhelmed, public services crushed, and communities shattered by the criminality of some illegal aliens, just as we saw with Marquez-Marquez. The danger is no longer theoretical — it is happening right now.

The Judiciary Committee report underscores the severity of this issue. It reveals that DHS had the resources to detain Marquez-Marquez but opted not to, releasing him back into the country after both his initial arrest and his ICE check-in.
Federal prosecutors later dropped the charges against him, citing technicalities. As of late July, Marquez-Marquez remains in ICE custody pending deportation, but the damage has already been done. This is not a matter of insufficient resources or bad luck — this is a policy failure of epic proportions.
The failure to secure the southern border has direct and devastating effects on American cities. From Texas to New York, local governments are struggling to manage the massive influx of illegal aliens. Social services are stretched to their breaking points, hospitals are overwhelmed, and crime rates are on the rise. The strain on these communities is immense, and there is little help coming from the federal government.
The Biden-Harris administration seems more interested in maintaining its progressive image than protecting the American people.
Their permissive approach to border security has emboldened human traffickers, drug cartels, and criminals like Marquez-Marquez, who exploit the broken system for their own gain.

The fact that someone like Marquez-Marquez — who was carrying multiple fake documents and armed with a machete — was allowed to wander freely in Washington, D.C., just outside the Capitol, is a terrifying reminder of the potential for more serious attacks.
