Harris Campaign Lies About Being Funded By Political Dark Money
Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign has come under scrutiny for its stance on accepting lobbyist contributions. Despite claiming to reject money from lobbyists, a review of campaign finance records suggests otherwise.
Since July 21, when Harris took over President Biden’s reelection operation, numerous lobbyists have contributed to her campaign. This influx of lobbyist funds occurred after reports in The New York Times and Politico stated that Harris was maintaining Biden’s policy of not accepting direct contributions from individual lobbyists.
The lobbyists contributing to Harris’ campaign represent a diverse range of industries, including tech, marijuana, tobacco, and chemical companies. Some of the organizations represented by these donors include Altria, Apple, and the Dow Chemical Company.
This is not the first time Harris has faced criticism for accepting lobbyist money despite pledging not to do so. During her 2020 presidential campaign, she reportedly received over $100,000 from lobbyists at firms such as DLA Piper and Venable, contradicting her earlier promise.
“Our campaign is not taking a dime from corporate PACs or lobbyists — and that was a very deliberate choice,” Harris stated in a February 2019 email to supporters. “Yes, it means we are leaving money on the table. But that’s ok with me.”
Democrats Exploiting Campaign Finance Loopholes
The Harris campaign’s current pledge doesn’t prevent lobbyists from supporting her election effort through other means, such as donating to the Democratic National Committee (DNC), which can spend funds to support her campaign. This loophole was reportedly exploited at a recent fundraising event hosted by former Democratic Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, which raised $1.2 million.
Harris has previously expressed concern about the influence of money in politics. In April 2018, she stated, “I think that money has had such an outside influence on politics, and especially with the Supreme Court determining Citizens United, which basically means that big corporations can spend unlimited amounts of money influencing our campaigns, right?”
Despite these statements, Harris and her team reportedly maintain “a pretty open door” to lobbyists, according to Yasmin Nelson, a Holland & Knight lobbyist and former senior Harris advisor. Harris also has personal connections to the lobbying industry through her husband, Doug Emhoff, who was previously a partner at DLA Piper, a law firm with significant lobbying activities.
As the campaign progresses, it remains to be seen how Harris will navigate the complex relationship between political fundraising and lobbyist contributions, especially given the scrutiny her campaign is facing on this issue.
Harris Campaign Financiers Tell The Full Picture
Kamala Harris has been selling herself as someone who will be governing the nation in a notably different way than Joe Biden has for the past three and a half years. The only issue is that the campaign contribution sources tell a different story.
Kamala Harris says she wants an end to the Israel-Gaza conflict that has seen both sides needlessly lose innocent civilian lives, and yet she has been funded by groups that have been pro-war. There’s nothing wrong with being pro-Israel, but she’s lying to her own supporters when she says she will be notably different than Joe Biden.

Her campaign financiers are only backing her on the condition that they keep the status quo going. That’s the reason why Donald Trump scares the daylights out of them. He’s an actual anti-establishment character who will actually shake up the status quo.
As usual, when you just follow the money, you find out who these politicians truly are. Kamala Harris is another Democrat machine cog in the wheel who will lie on camera and then play ball in the shadows.
