Everyone wants to know who Trump will appoint. It can make or break an administration.
And now Donald Trump has made a groundbreaking appointment announcement.
President-Elect Trump Nominates Rep. Elise Stefanik for U.N. Ambassador
President-elect Donald Trump has announced his nomination of Republican Representative Elise Stefanik of New York for the position of U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations (U.N.), one of the first appointments in his incoming administration.
Trump’s team shared the news with the Daily Caller News Foundation (DCNF) on Monday, expressing enthusiasm for Stefanik’s selection. In a statement, Trump praised the congresswoman for her “strong” qualities, noting her dedication to the “America First” agenda.
“I am honored to nominate Chairwoman Elise Stefanik to serve in my Cabinet as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. Elise is an incredibly strong, tough, and smart America First fighter,” Trump said in the statement, which was provided to the DCNF by his spokesperson, Karoline Leavitt.

Stefanik, who has served in Congress since 2015, expressed her gratitude for the nomination and her readiness to serve in the key diplomatic role. In an interview with the New York Post Stefanik said, “I am truly honored to earn President Trump’s nomination to serve in his Cabinet as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. During my conversation with President Trump, I shared how deeply humbled I am to accept his nomination and that I look forward to earning the support of my colleagues in the United States Senate.”
Stefanik also highlighted the significance of Trump’s victory, calling it a “historic landslide election” that has renewed hope for the American people. “President Trump’s historic landslide election has given hope to the American people and is a reminder that brighter days are ahead — both at home and abroad,” she said.
As U.N. Ambassador, Stefanik will replace Linda Thomas-Greenfield, who was appointed to the role by President Joe Biden in 2021. Thomas-Greenfield, a career diplomat, has faced criticism over her handling of U.N. affairs during her tenure, particularly regarding the U.N. Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA). Under Biden’s leadership, the U.S. heavily funded the agency, which provides assistance to Palestinians in Gaza. However, earlier this year, reports revealed that the UNRWA had employed individuals with terrorist affiliations, leading to increased scrutiny.
The U.N. has also faced controversy for its inclusion of countries with poor human rights records, such as China and Cuba, on its Human Rights Council.
Stefanik’s appointment to the U.N. will mark her departure from the House of Representatives, leaving Republicans with an even slimmer majority in the chamber. As of Monday, votes were still being counted to determine which party would hold the majority in the upcoming congressional session.
This nomination represents one of the first significant moves in Trump’s post-election efforts to shape his administration, signaling his priorities for U.S. foreign policy and international relations.
Elise Stefanik went viral earlier this year when she questioned multiple university presidents about anti-semitism on their campuses. She asked a simple question if making d*ath threats against Jewish students was considered anti-semitic and unacceptable behavior, with the university presidents shamefully unable to answer the question.
Elise Stefanik single-handedly ousted three university presidents who wouldn’t commit to protecting Jewish students.
Now, on to the United Nations…
