The mainstream media has taken a serious blow. But they are not going down without a fight.
Because an ABC reporter was slapped with a stark reality check by Trump’s border czar.
Border Czar Tom Homan Defends Mass Deportation Efforts on ABC News
In a recent appearance on ABC News’ This Week, Border Czar Tom Homan reiterated his commitment to fulfilling President Donald Trump’s campaign promise of mass deportation, despite pushback from critics and lawmakers. During the interview, Homan was questioned by host Martha Raddatz on the Trump administration’s strategy for deporting millions of illegal migrants, a topic that has sparked controversy since Trump’s first days in office.
When asked if deportations would become a daily reality for Americans, as Trump had pledged, Homan responded confidently, asserting that the number of arrests would increase steadily. “Yes, but you can see the numbers steadily increase, the number of arrests nationwide as we open up the aperture,” Homan explained. He added that the current focus was on high-priority individuals, specifically public safety and national security threats, which represent a smaller portion of the illegal migrant population. However, as the scope of the operations expanded, Homan assured that more arrests would occur nationwide.
Tom Homan and the Trump administration have been quick to implement some of their anti-illegal immigration agendas, starting with the deployment of military personnel to assist U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Border Patrol agents. This move, which took place within the first week of Trump’s presidency, also saw Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents conducting raids to apprehend and deport illegal migrants.
A recent Fox News broadcast featured footage of ICE agents carrying out raids, including one in Boston, Massachusetts, where a Haitian migrant was arrested. The migrant, whose identity was not disclosed, was seen shouting to the camera in praise of former Presidents Joe Biden and Barack Obama while stating he wouldn’t return to Haiti. Fox News reported that the individual in question was a gang member with 17 criminal convictions in recent years, underscoring the Trump administration’s focus on deporting individuals with criminal backgrounds.
In his interview with Raddatz, Homan emphasized that under the Biden administration, there would be a renewed emphasis on deporting “criminal aliens,” such as r*pists and m*rderers. Acting Department of Homeland Security Secretary Benjamin Huffman also affirmed this policy shift, noting that ICE agents would now have more leeway to arrest individuals involved in serious criminal activities.
Raddatz pressed Homan further, asking if the administration’s enforcement efforts would extend to illegal migrants who had not been convicted or arrested previously. Homan’s response was firm: “If you’re in a country illegally, you’re on the table, because it’s not okay to violate laws of this country.” He pointed out that entering the United States without legal authorization is a crime under Title 8 of the United States Code 1325, which prohibits illegal entry.
“So if you’re in a country illegally, you’ve got a problem,” Homan said. “That’s why I’m hoping those who are in a country illegally, who have not been ordered removed by the federal judge, should leave.”
Since his appointment as Border Czar, Homan has consistently emphasized his commitment to enforcing Trump’s immigration policies and addressing what he describes as an ongoing illegal immigration crisis. During the Biden administration, Border Patrol recorded record-high encounters with illegal migrants, with over 7 million believed to be residing in the United States without legal status.
However, Trump’s mass deportation strategy has faced criticism from Democratic lawmakers, sanctuary city officials, and immigration advocates. Some local officials have expressed concerns about cooperating with federal immigration authorities during raids, citing the potential impact on immigrant communities. Despite these objections, Homan has warned that anyone attempting to assist illegal migrants could face legal consequences. He also highlighted the potential repercussions from Attorney General nominee Pam Bondi, who has supported strong enforcement actions against those aiding migrants in the country illegally.
A number of videos and reports have already been surfacing showing the Trump administration’s efforts to arrest violent criminals who are illegally inside the United States. Simply put, the Trump allies were not joking around when they said they were going to be implementing deportation plans as soon as the second term started.
