The Democrats are scrambling for direction. They’re getting slammed left and right.
And now the White House Press Secretary has eviscerated a top Democrat with just two words in a tense press briefing.
White House Press Secretary Slams Tim Walz And His “Sad Existence” Over Tesla Stock Comments
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt sharply criticized former vice presidential candidate and current Minnesota Governor Tim Walz on Wednesday, calling out his “sad existence” following remarks he made celebrating the decline in Tesla’s stock price. Walz, a Democrat, openly admitted to rooting for the downturn of the American car company’s shares, which have plummeted by 40% in 2025, as a personal jab at Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
During a media appearance on Tuesday, Walz revealed that he keeps tabs on Tesla’s stock for a morale boost. “Some of you know this, on the iPhone, they’ve got that little stock app. I added Tesla to it to give me a little boost during the day — $225 and dropping,” he said. “And if you own one, we’re not blaming you. You can take dental floss and pull the Tesla thing off. I’m not a vindictive person or anything but I take great pleasure in the fact that this guy’s life is going to get very, very difficult.” The governor went further, stating he takes “great pleasure” in imagining Musk facing mounting challenges.
Leavitt fired back during a Wednesday press briefing when a reporter asked, “Tim Walz said last night that he frequently checks Tesla’s stock and doing so to ‘give [him] a little boost throughout the day.’ How should Americans view politicians who take pride in the downfall of an American car company?”
“I think it’s quite sad, but I think that Governor Walz unfortunately is living a sad existence after his devastating defeat on Nov. 5,” Leavitt responded, referencing Walz’s loss in the 2024 election as the running mate of the Democratic ticket. She went on to call it “quite sad” for the governor of Minnesota to revel in the financial struggles of a major U.S.-based employer like Tesla.
Tesla, a key player in the American automotive industry, has faced a turbulent year. As of June 2024, the company employed over 121,800 workers, down 14% from the 140,000 it had in December 2023, according to data from SEO.AI. The company has historically been a significant economic force in states like California, where it employed 47,000 people in 2022, and in Austin, Texas, where it ranks as the third-largest employer with 23,000 workers, per an April report from the Austin American-Statesman.
Walz’s comments come amid a busy post-election period for the governor, who has been touring red districts across the country as part of a media blitz. He has also hinted at a potential 2028 presidential run, saying he would consider it if the timing and his “skill set” align.
Meanwhile, Tesla has become a target for anti-Musk sentiment, with vandalism incidents cropping up nationwide. Authorities in Littleton, Massachusetts, reported that firefighters and police discovered seven Tesla superchargers ablaze at around 1:00 a.m. on Monday, an act later deemed intentional.
Over the weekend, protesters struck a Tesla dealership in Baltimore County, Maryland, while others defaced a dealership in Owings Mills with graffiti reading “No Musk” alongside what appeared to be either a swastika or an X, according to CBS News. In Loveland, Colorado, police arrested a 40-year-old suspect caught carrying explosives at a Tesla dealership.
The attacks have been linked to backlash against Musk’s involvement in the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a new initiative aimed at cutting wasteful and fraudulent government spending. Leavitt addressed the vandalism during the briefing, telling Daily Caller White House correspondent Reagan Reese that the White House condemns these “despicable” acts targeting “innocent Americans.”
Not a SINGLE DEMOCRAT in Congress has condemned the terror attacks on Tesla, or the attempted m*rder of conservatives via swatting.
