And Kamala Harris’ brain broke after getting called out by a reporter.

Tense Exchange in Harris Interview

Former Vice President Kamala Harris faced sharp questioning during a recent Australian Broadcasting Corporation interview with Sarah Ferguson, who challenged her on her time as Joe Biden’s running mate while promoting her memoir, 107 Days, about her brief presidential campaign. Harris sidestepped several pointed questions, prompting Ferguson to call out her evasive responses.

The interview, which gained attention for its confrontational tone, delved into Harris’s political future and her role in the Biden administration, particularly regarding Biden’s mental acuity. “Didn’t you also have a responsibility?”

Ferguson pressed, asking why Harris didn’t speak out about Biden’s capacity. “You were one of the people in the room…. Didn’t you have a responsibility as an American to step up and say something at that point?”

Harris firmly defended Biden, stating, “I did not question Joe Biden’s capacity to be president at all.” When Ferguson suggested Biden’s refusal to acknowledge his limitations created an “impossible task” for Harris’s campaign, Harris pivoted, focusing on her race against President Donald Trump and claiming his platform misrepresented his intentions.

Ferguson interjected, “I want to interrupt you because that is a world-class pivot, but it is not the question that I asked you, which is about Joe Biden’s failure to recognize his own frailties and what that did to you.”

Defending Biden’s Leadership

The interview grew heated as Ferguson pressed Harris on whether she was reluctant to criticize Biden openly, noting, “The question is about Joe Biden. Are you still reluctant to criticize the former president?”

Harris responded, “In what regard, please?” prompting Ferguson to clarify whether Biden’s unacknowledged “frailties” undermined her campaign. Harris maintained, “He was not frail as president of the United States,” despite Ferguson’s retort, “But he had frailties. We all saw the debate.”

Harris doubled down, asserting, “I do believe that Joe Biden had the capacity to be president of the United States and I have never doubted that he had the capacity to be president of the United States.” She acknowledged concerns about Biden’s stamina for the 2024 race, as noted in her book, but avoided direct criticism.

Ferguson challenged Harris’s candor, asking if she was less forthcoming on camera than in her memoir. “Of course not. I wouldn’t have written the book if I didn’t want to be frank about that,” Harris replied, defending her openness. The exchange highlighted Harris’s efforts to balance loyalty to Biden with addressing public perceptions of his leadership.

Viral Moment and Forward Focus

A particularly viral moment came when Ferguson asked, “Does it make you angry that former President Biden still says he would have won?” Harris deflected, saying, “I… am focused on the present,” sidestepping the question about Biden’s post-election claims.

The interview underscored the challenges Harris faces in navigating her political legacy, with Ferguson’s persistent questioning exposing tensions between her public stance and the candid reflections in 107 Days.

As Harris continues her book tour, the exchange has sparked debate about her role in the Biden administration and her approach to addressing its controversies.
