Rogan tries to play both sides at times. But he has to call them like he sees them.

And now Joe Rogan ripped into Democrats for making one boneheaded move.

Rogan’s Scathing Take on Democrats’ Voter ID Hysteria

In a no-holds-barred episode of his podcast, Joe Rogan tore into progressives and Democrats for their over-the-top claims that requiring voter ID is akin to the discriminatory Jim Crow laws, calling out what he sees as blatant hypocrisy and groupthink in liberal circles.

Joined by journalist Michael Shellenberger, Rogan didn’t mince words, exposing how such positions seem more about toeing the party line than addressing real election integrity concerns.

Absurd Comparisons to Jim Crow Exposed

Shellenberger shared insights from his talks with progressive friends and family, who argue against voter ID by invoking historical injustices.

“When I talk to my progressive friends about it, you know, and family and friends, it’s very much like, ‘No, we can’t put barriers on the way of voting because that’s what they did during Jim Crow,’ I mean, that’s where it goes back to,” he said. Rogan pushed back hard, questioning the sincerity behind these views.

“Do you believe that? That’s horses—,” Shellenberger remarked, prompting Rogan to reply, “Really? I think they just say it because that’s the thing that everybody says. I think it’s a groupthink thing.” This exchange underscores how Democrats’ knee-jerk opposition to basic safeguards might be more about echoing far-left narratives than genuine anti-racism efforts, especially when it distracts from ensuring only citizens vote.

Post-Pandemic Hypocrisy on ID Requirements

The discussion highlighted the irony of Democrats’ stance in a post-COVID world, where everyday activities demanded proof of vaccination—yet somehow, showing ID to vote is deemed oppressive.

Rogan referenced Vice President Kamala Harris’s 2021 comments expressing worry that rural Americans might struggle with photocopying IDs due to limited access to services like Kinko’s. He argued this logic falls flat now, as pandemic-era ID checks became routine without widespread outcry.

Shellenberger noted that progressives downplay voter fraud and resist ID mandates, but Rogan dismissed it as disconnected from reality, suggesting many liberals privately recognize the need for verification but publicly cave to ideological pressure.

The Case for Simple, Fair Election Safeguards

At its core, Rogan championed voter ID as a straightforward way to protect democracy without burdening anyone. “ID is not a barrier. It’s just an insurance that you’re a citizen while you’re voting,” he stated firmly.

He added, “Most people in this country who are citizens have some form of ID or can get some form of ID. And it’s entirely reasonable to ask people to prove that you are who you are if you’re voting for the president of the United States. That seems pretty reasonable.”

This perspective calls out Democrats for inflating minor inconveniences into systemic racism, potentially undermining trust in elections while ignoring how easy ID access has become. With figures like Senator John Fetterman criticizing his own party’s “Jim Crow 2.0” rhetoric and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer doubling down on it, Rogan’s comments spotlight a growing divide where common-sense reforms get lost in partisan exaggeration.
