Donald Trump is on cloud nine. His political opponent has proven to be a mindless dolt.
And now Trump just smacked Biden with a reality check that will end his campaign.
Former President Donald Trump threw down the gauntlet to President Biden, challenging him to a no-rules, no-moderator debate to test Biden’s “competence or lack thereof.”
The 78-year-old presumptive GOP nominee took to Truth Social on Thursday, proposing a “no holds barred” showdown just a week after Biden’s rocky first debate.
“I have the answer to the Crooked Joe Biden Incompetence Puzzle — Let’s do another Debate, but this time, no holds barred,” Trump said in a post. “An all-on discussion, with just the two of us on stage, talking about the future of our Country.”
Trump predicted that the revamped format would be a ratings juggernaut, surpassing the 47.9 million viewers from the CNN-hosted debate with Jake Tapper and Dana Bash.
The proposed debate would be a freewheeling, back-and-forth exchange, a stark contrast to the rigid rules of the first debate, which limited candidates to 2-minute responses and 1-minute rebuttals with enforced microphone cutoffs.
Trump argued his format would let Biden, 81, defend his controversial policies directly to the American people.
“Let Joe explain why he wants Open Borders, with millions of people, and many violent criminals from parts unknown, pouring into our once great Nation, or why he wants Men Playing in Women’s Sports,” Trump said.
“Or demand ALL ELECTRIC VEHICLES within five years, or why he allowed INFLATION TO RUN RAMPANT, destroying the people of our Country, and so much more.
“It would also, under great pressure, prove his ‘competence,’ or lack thereof,” Trump claimed, a dig at the growing calls for Biden to drop out of the race following his disastrous performance at the first debate.
During the June 27 debate, Biden froze and later bizarrely claimed to have “beat Medicare” in the opening minutes.
Afterward, major outlets like The New York Times and Atlanta Journal-Constitution urged Biden to reconsider his reelection bid.
In response, Biden met with nearly two dozen Democratic governors at the White House to rally support but admitted he needed more sleep and shorter work hours, which include avoiding events after 8 p.m. Reports also indicated that Biden’s optimal working hours are between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
As Trump issued his challenge, Biden made several gaffes during a speech at the White House Fourth of July celebration.
Trump framed the debate as another test for himself as well, envisioning it as a classic, one-on-one battle.
“What a great evening it would be,” Trump said. “Just the two of us, in a good, old-fashioned Debate, the way they used to be. ANYTIME, ANYWHERE, ANYPLACE!!!”
Days after the debate, leaked video footage showed the Republican hopeful sitting in a golf cart with his youngest son Barron, suggesting his 2024 opponent will soon drop out of the race, while calling him a “broken-down pile of crap.”
A second debate is already set for Sept. 10 at 9 p.m., with Biden pledging to return to the stage. The White House has yet to respond to Trump’s new proposal.
