Vance has stepped into the crosshairs. In fact, he’s been there ever since he decided to be Trump’s VP.

And JD Vance was smacked with a troubling ruling that has the White House stunned.

On Wednesday, Vice President JD Vance dipped his toes into the waters of Bluesky, a left-leaning social media platform, only to find himself temporarily locked out just minutes after his first post. The rapid suspension, followed by reinstatement, ignited a lot of reactions and showed the platform’s growing pains as it tries to be a space for “common sense political discussion” as Vance put it.

Vance kicked off his Bluesky journey with an enthusiastic greeting: “Hello Bluesky, I’ve been told this app has become the place to go for common sense political discussion and analysis,” he wrote. “So I’m thrilled to be here to engage with all of you.”

He didn’t waste time diving into a hot-button issue, sharing his thoughts on the Supreme Court’s recent decision to uphold Tennessee’s restrictions on minors receiving transgender medical treatments.

“To that end, I found Justice [Clarence] Thomas’s concurrence on medical care for transgender youth quite illuminating,” Vance posted, attaching a screenshot of Justice Thomas’s opinion.

“He argues that many of our so-called ‘experts’ have used bad arguments and substandard science to push experimental therapies on our youth,” Vance added.

“I might add that many of those scientists are receiving substantial resources from big pharma to push these medicines on kids.” He closed with an invitation for dialogue: “What do you think?”

The post barely had time to breathe. Within 12 minutes, as reported by Axios journalist Marc Caputo, Vance’s account was suspended.

Visitors to his Bluesky page were greeted with this message: “Not found. Account has been suspended.” The vice president had announced his Bluesky arrival on X, which may have drawn immediate attention to his new account.

The suspension didn’t last long. Minutes later, Vance’s account was back online, with no clear indication that his post violated Bluesky’s community guidelines. So what happened?

Bluesky, born as a decentralized alternative to Twitter after Elon Musk’s 2022 acquisition of the platform, has seen explosive growth.

According to the Pew Research Center, its user base skyrocketed from 10 million to 30 million between November 2024 and May 2025, fueled by liberal-leaning X users seeking a more ideologically comfortable space. This rapid expansion has brought challenges, including managing high-profile newcomers like Vance.

The platform’s users didn’t exactly roll out the welcome mat. Some expressed outrage at the vice president’s presence. “Don’t just block. Report the account and the posts,” one user urged.

Another claimed they had flagged Vance’s post “for misinformation.” The backlash pointed to the platform’s tense atmosphere as it deals with different viewpoints that aren’t solely leftist ones.

Bluesky, however, offered a different explanation for the suspension. “Vice President Vance’s account was briefly flagged by our automated systems that try to detect impersonation attempts which have targeted public figures like him in the past,” a company spokesperson said.

“The account was quickly restored and verified so people can easily confirm its authenticity. We welcome the Vice President to join the conversation on Bluesky.”

It remains to be seen whether or not Vance’s account will get banned in the future. But it’s likely that leftist users on Bluesky will continue to meltdown over his presence on the platform.
