Political violence is getting out of hand in this country. But it’s mostly one side who’s committing it.
And the Secret Service is on red alert after these radical Leftists threaten to “storm” the White House.
A surge of fervent demands from Democratic supporters is pressing lawmakers to consider drastic measures, including “violence” to “protect” democracy from President Donald Trump, a new Axios report reveals.
Published Monday, the report highlights a rising tide of voter frustration, with some urging representatives to adopt aggressive tactics to spotlight their cause.
Constituents have called for bold actions, such as staging protests that could lead to arrests or even violent clashes. One House Democrat disclosed that supporters have pushed for dramatic steps like storming the White House. Another added that some supporters are insisting they “really need to do is be willing to get shot” during ICE detention center visits.
The lawmaker noted the intense pressure, stating, “Our own base is telling us that what we’re doing is not good enough … [that] there needs to be blood to grab the attention of the press and the public.”
Concerns Over Dangerous Rhetoric
This rhetoric has sparked concern among some lawmakers, who view these demands as both impractical and perilous. One representative highlighted a disturbing pattern, saying, “What I have seen is a demand that we get ourselves arrested intentionally or allow ourselves to be victims of violence, and … a lot of times that’s coming from economically very secure white people.” They added, “The expectations aren’t just unreal. They’re dangerous.”
The push for confrontation comes as some Democratic lawmakers have already faced legal consequences for their activism. California Senator Alex Padilla was briefly detained after disrupting a press conference led by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, while Rep. LaMonica McIver faced an indictment following a physical altercation outside a New Jersey ICE facility.
These incidents reflect a growing readiness among some lawmakers to engage in direct action, though not always to the extreme degree their supporters demand.
Online Pressure and Extreme Calls
Online, the calls have intensified. One lawmaker reported receiving messages urging them to “storm” the White House, while another was told that “civility isn’t working” and that Democrats must be prepared for “violence … to fight to protect our democracy.”
The fervor has left some feeling overwhelmed. “It’s like … the Roman coliseum. People just want more and more of this spectacle,” one lawmaker remarked.
Rep. Brad Schneider (D-IL) echoed this frustration, noting that supporters feel traditional approaches fall short. “We’ve got people who are desperately wanting us to do something … no matter what we say, they want [more],” he said.
The pressure to break from conventional norms is mounting, with voters expressing dissatisfaction with standard political tactics.
Rising Tensions and Violent Incidents
The report’s release coincided with a tragic incident in McAllen, Texas, where a gunman was k*lled after opening fire on Border Patrol agents, an attack the Trump administration called a targeted ambush.
This follows a reported 700% increase in assaults on ICE agents compared to last year at this time, according to the Department of Homeland Security. Some activists have also demanded that agents stop wearing masks to hide their identities, further heightening tensions.
As these calls for extreme action grow louder, Democratic lawmakers find themselves navigating a precarious balance between their supporters’ demands and the risks of escalating an already volatile political climate thanks to many of these very supporters.
