CNN has been very critical of the president over the past decade. That’s obvious for pretty much anyone that has a brain.

And a CNN anchor just pulled this ridiculous stunt on live TV that has Trump shaking with anger.

CNN’s Selective Lens: A Pattern of Anti-Trump Bias

In a revealing moment on Tuesday’s Inside Politics, CNN anchor Dana Bash cherry-picked her way through a Truth Social post by President Donald Trump, conspicuously avoiding a jab aimed at her network. Trump’s post urged Republicans to support his $9 billion rescission package, which targets over $1 billion in funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), the financial backbone of NPR and PBS.

In his words, “It is very important that all Republicans adhere to my Recissions [sic] Bill and, in particular, DEFUND THE CORPORATION FOR PUBLIC BROADCASTING (PBS and NPR), which is worse than CNN & MSDNC put together.” Bash, however, skipped the phrase “which is worse than CNN & MSDNC put together,” saying, “I’m not even going to read that,” before continuing with the rest of the quote.

This selective editing is no isolated incident but part of a long-standing pattern at CNN, where the network has consistently aligned itself with Democratic talking points while casting President Trump as a perpetual adversary.

From policy coverage to personal attacks, CNN’s reporting often seems crafted to undermine Trump’s credibility while amplifying narratives that resonate with his political opponents. Bash’s refusal to read Trump’s full statement reflects a deeper reluctance to confront criticism head-on.

Trump’s fraught relationship with CNN has been well-documented. In February, he declared, “Nobody watches CNN anymore, because they have no credibility.”

Earlier this month, he escalated his rhetoric, suggesting that CNN could face prosecution over its reporting on an app tracking ICE agents and for claiming U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities “did not destroy” Iran’s nuclear program. These remarks stem from Trump’s frustration with what he sees as CNN’s relentless bias—a sentiment echoed by many who view the network as a platform for Democratic agendas.

CNN’s coverage during the 2020 election cycle offers a clear example of this tilt. The network devoted extensive airtime to unverified claims of Trump’s ties to Russia, particularly the Steele dossier, while giving scant attention to the Hunter Biden laptop story, which raised questions about Joe Biden’s family dealings.

This selective focus helped craft a narrative that vilified Trump while shielding his opponent, aligning seamlessly with Democratic priorities. By prioritizing one story over another, CNN shaped public perception in a way that favored one party’s agenda.

Immigration coverage further illustrates CNN’s slant. The network often leaned on emotional imagery, such as children in border facilities, and quoted activists condemning Trump’s “zero-tolerance” policy, while rarely offering equal time to arguments about border security or the economic impacts of illegal immigration.

This approach painted Trump as callous, dovetailing with Democratic critiques and sidelining any nuanced discussion of the issue.

Economically, CNN has downplayed Trump’s achievements, such as record-low unemployment for minority groups before the COVID-19 pandemic, often crediting Obama-era policies or focusing on income inequality instead.

This selective storytelling consistently framed Trump’s record in a negative light, reinforcing narratives that resonate with Democratic talking points while dismissing or minimizing his successes.

Bash herself has a history of deflecting Trump’s critiques on air. In April, when Trump commented on dropping border numbers and accused CNN of suppressing them, saying, “Well, they get out, but the fake news, like CNN over here, doesn’t want to put them out because they don’t like putting out good numbers … because I think they hate our country, actually,” Bash responded defensively:

“I just want to say for the record, since we heard President Trump say in the Oval Office that CNN hates our country. CNN does not hate our country. That should go without saying. I’ve been here for 32 years, and I see a rhetorical device in him trying to — to say such a thing.” Her response sidestepped Trump’s core accusation of biased reporting, instead framing his critique as an attack on the network’s patriotism.

This pattern of selective reporting, deflection, and narrative-shaping reveals CNN’s consistent alignment with Democratic agendas. By dismissing Trump’s critiques, and prioritizing stories that cast him in a negative light, the network has eroded its own credibility while fueling perceptions of partisanship.

As Trump continues to challenge CNN’s reporting, the network’s refusal to engage with his criticisms only deepens the divide, leaving many to question its commitment to impartiality.
