Obama has recently become the subject of a major scandal. But he may have just gotten let off the hook.

Because the Supreme Court gave Barack Obama a lifeline that changes absolutely everything.

A dispute between President Donald Trump and former President Barack Obama has erupted, reignited by the Supreme Court’s recent presidential immunity ruling. On Friday, Trump seized the moment to claim that Obama “owes me big,” pointing to the legal protections the ruling affords.

The clash dives deep into unresolved tensions from the 2016 election, with Trump accusing Obama of orchestrating the controversial Trump-Russia collusion narrative, often dubbed Russiagate.

Earlier last week, Trump branded Obama the “ringleader” of Russiagate, calling for a criminal probe into claims that Obama’s administration “manufactured” intelligence to push the now-discredited story of Trump’s ties to Russia. Obama’s team swiftly rejected the accusations as “bizarre,” per a spokesperson.

“It probably helps him a lot. Probably helps a lot. The immunity ruling, but it doesn’t help the people around him at all. But it probably helps him a lot,” Trump stated last Friday.

“He’s done criminal acts, there’s no question about it. But he has immunity, and it probably helps him a lot… he owes me big, Obama owes me big.”

The heart of the controversy lies in a 2020 House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence report, recently declassified by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard.

The report questions the integrity of the 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA), which alleged Russian interference in the 2016 election.

According to Fox News, Obama directed issued “unusual” directives to produce “potentially biased” or “implausible” intelligence that suggested that Russian President Vladimir Putin wanted to assist in electing Donald Trump in 2016.

The report details how a small group of five CIA analysts, guided by a single drafter, rushed the ICA’s production. Completed just weeks before Trump’s 2017 inauguration, the process allegedly skipped standard coordination within the intelligence community, allowing its conclusions to go largely unchallenged.

Obama’s spokesperson, Patrick Rodenbush, hit back hard. “Out of respect for the office of the presidency, our office does not normally dignify the constant nonsense and misinformation flowing out of this White House with a response,” he said.

“But these claims are outrageous enough to merit one. These bizarre allegations are ridiculous and a weak attempt at distraction.”

“Nothing in the document issued last week undercuts the widely accepted conclusion that Russia worked to influence the 2016 presidential election but did not successfully manipulate any votes.”

The drama intensified when Gabbard, speaking on “Jesse Watters Primetime” Wednesday, revealed resistance within the deep state to releasing the report. “There are a lot of deep state actors still here within Washington,” she said, stressing her and Trump’s commitment to transparency.

“President Trump wants us to find the truth. I want to find that truth. The American people deserve the truth, and they deserve accountability.”

As the immunity ruling reshapes the political landscape, the renewed sparring between Trump and Obama keeps the 2016 election’s controversies alive, with both sides showing no signs of backing down.
