Leftist media outlets have reached a new low. They can’t seem to help themselves with the trouble they get into.
And the New York Times’ support of terrorism is exposed by a leading Republican.
On Christmas Eve, the New York Times (NYT) decided that it was a good idea to publish an op-ed by Yahya R. Sarraj, the mayor of Gaza City who was appointed by Hamas.
Sarraj’s op-ed was titled, I Am Gaza City’s Mayor. Our lives and Culture Are in Rubble, and criticized the nation of Israel.
This opinion piece by Sarraj comes almost three months after Hamas launched a brutal terrorist attack on Israel.
Sarraj claims that Israel is the true enemy for “caus[ing] the deaths of more than 20,000 people” and for leveling or at least damaging “about half the buildings” located on the Gaza Strip.
His facts come from the Gaza Health Ministry, a Hamas run organization, which is a suspect source to say the least.
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R) was quick to attack the NYT for their publishing of Sarraj’s op-ed.
“The New York Times provided a platform to a politician appointed by Hamas – the group designated by America as a foreign terrorist organization and responsible for the heinous October 7th massacre,” Johnson said in a post to X.

Republican presidential candidate and former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley also joined in with Johnson to criticize the NYT.
“Remember when New York Times staff threw a tantrum over a Republican senator’s op-ed?” Haley’s post said.
“We heard no complaints from NYT staff about publishing an op-ed by a Hamas-appointed mayor over Christmas. That tells you everything you need to know about the state of our media.”

Haley was referring to Senator Tom Cotton’s (R-Ark.) opinion piece where he called for the U.S. military to respond to violent rioting from Black Lives Matter and Antifa after George Floyd’s death in 2020.
James Bennet, the op-ed editor at the time for the NYT, was removed from his post after staff raged at his decision to publish Cotton’s column.
Unfortunately, the Times’ latest actions shouldn’t come as a surprise.
It seems like most media outlets like them continue to make boneheaded moves that only seek to destroy their own credibility.
