Vice President Harris is trying to convince Americans that she’s a viable candidate. Her history paints a much different picture.
And now Kamala Harris suffered a devastating barrage from the last place she ever expected.
Gold Star families are pushing back hard against Vice President Kamala Harris after she tried to inject herself into the controversy surrounding former President Donald Trump’s visit to Arlington Cemetery, where he honored the 13 soldiers k*lled during the Biden administration’s disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal.
Harris took to X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, lashing out at Trump for filming videos while paying respects to the fallen soldiers. She claimed that, unlike Trump, she “will always honor the service and sacrifice of all of America’s fallen heroes.” Yet, her words rang hollow to those who have been completely ignored by her for the past three years.
Eight Gold Star families didn’t stay silent. They took to X to rebuke Harris’ tone-deaf comments, pointing out that they personally invited Trump to the cemetery for the ceremony. And in all this time, they’ve never heard a peep from the vice president who now claims to care so deeply about their sacrifice.
“This is Mark Schmitz, Gold Star father of Marine Lance Corporal Jared Schmitz. Here we are on a beautiful holiday weekend day, I got to stop what I’m doing, spending time with what’s left of my family, to address a heinous, vile, and disgusting post put out by Kamala Harris trying to incite those that don’t follow the truth that President Trump was in Arlington as a political stunt – shows you how much you know about the 13 families, we invited him to be there,” Schmitz said in a powerful video, which Trump posted on X in direct response to Harris’ baseless attack.
Schmitz didn’t hold back, making it clear why Trump was there and why Harris and Biden were nowhere to be found. “We wanted a leader — that explains why you and Joe didn’t get a call,” he said.
“Imagine for a second that your kid is k*lled. There’s a president in the United States willing to take you under his wing and listen to you. That’s what we found in President Trump, certainly not you, and certainly not Joe Biden.”
The Gold Star families have been waiting over three years just to hear their children’s names acknowledged by the administration responsible for their deaths. But Harris, who was “the last person in the room” when Biden decided on the botched Afghanistan withdrawal, has remained silent — until she chose to use the anniversary of their loss to score political points.
“You have 13 families who have been waiting over three years to so much as get a phone call, to so much as hear our kids’ names said aloud in the halls of Congress, the State of the Union, hell, anything,” Schmitz continued.
“The irony behind your post, that you give a rat’s a** about our military or our veterans… is an outright lie. We’re living proof of that. You’re despicable. You have zero business running this country. And I pray to God Americans wake the hell up and get your a** out of office.”
Trump’s visit to Arlington National Cemetery was attacked by the usual suspects, with NPR running a story about a supposed physical altercation between a campaign official and an Arlington staffer over photograph restrictions.
But the Trump team denied the claims, with sources familiar with the event making it clear that the Gold Star families had no issue with a photographer capturing the solemn ceremony.
In stark contrast, neither Biden nor Harris showed up to honor the 13 soldiers k*lled during their administration’s chaotic withdrawal.
They couldn’t be bothered to attend a public event, instead issuing generic statements while Trump personally visited Arlington.
When asked about Trump’s visit, Biden gave a typical non-answer, saying, “I don’t want to answer, because I might tell you what I think.” Meanwhile, Harris doubled down, posting on X about how the former president “disrespected sacred ground” and accusing him of using the event as a “political stunt.”
But the families of the fallen soldiers aren’t buying it. Darin Hoover, the father of the late Staff Sgt. Taylor Hoover, along with other grieving family members, recorded videos directly addressing Harris’ hypocrisy.
Christy Shamblin, the mother-in-law of the late Sergeant Nicole Gee, asked the question on everyone’s mind: “Why won’t you return a call and explain to us how you call my daughter-in-law’s death a success? Why have we never heard from you?”
In the midst of all this, the Biden administration, of which Harris is a key part, had the audacity to release a report in April 2023 blaming Trump for the botched withdrawal.
Despite Harris’ claim that she was integral to the decision-making process, it seems she and Biden would rather pass the buck than take responsibility.
And if you ask John Kirby, White House National Security Council spokesman, the president is still “proud” of the operation.
It’s a pride that Gold Star families — and the American public — find hard to understand, especially when their pain and loss are met with nothing but silence and political games from Kamala Harris.
